Ocean Beach Christmas Parade

Hi peeps

Yesterday, I was at the OB Christmas Parade. A totally different and funny experience since christmas has another meaning to Americans. Chains of lights hung up on oldtimer cars, Harley bikers dressed as santa clauses, football teams and other wagons were the highlights of the parade. At all the feeling for christmas is different not least because of the weather. Whereas mild temperatures and sunshine normally don’t really make the typicall christmas feeling arise people are really into christmas here. Concerning the weather, it’s getting dark at around 4.30 here, which was too dark to take any pictures during the parade but I can show you some I made before the parade started at around six o’clock.

After the parade we went downtown to a mexican restaurant to celebrate the birthday of one of our friends. Of course there was a huge birthday bash after dinner.

I upload also some older pictures from PB.

Take care.

Sincerely

La Jolla Golf Court

Today we were visiting the La Jolla Golf Course. It is probably the nicest one in San Diego. The course is located up on the beach riffs of La Jolla. The field is high over the ocean and have an amazing view on the water from wherever you play. Unfortunately, it was foggy and we couldn’t enjoy the view over the ocean. It must be awesome when the sun goes down and fades in the horizon.

As we only checked out the course, we will definitely come back and play on a sunny day. But then we will hopefully have the nice view on the ocean.

Football Game

Hiya

I tried to post this already on sunday but somehow it didn’t work. Here we go again.

The match was on sunday. It was pretty crazy. The people come one day earlier or already very early in the morning woth their trucks and do a BBQs. Some of them are incredibly good equipped. The one we met had a grill fixed to the back of his truck and big sun screens like they are used for garden parties. They had even a flat screen TV and outdoor games. The whole thing is huge and all around the stadium. They just make a huge event out of the game. They had even an area with a concert stage where live bands played. This are was so big that it could have been a swiss music festival on it’s own.

At the beginning of the game they sang the national anthem and two army jets flew over the stadium. There were nearly 80’000 people in the stadium but plenty over 100’000 with the folks around the stadium. It was funny when they did advertisment during short game breaks. They really place ads whenever possible :-)

The game was against the Oklahoma Raiders the rivals of San Diego so it was even more fun.

Result:

San Diego Chargers 24 : Oklahoma Raiders 16

Beautiful Weather and Tests

Hiya!

We had the first training tests for the CAE3. In the first test I had 96%. all together I had like 77%. It’s okay as we only just started 3 weeks ago w/ school.

The weather is really really great. It’s almost 30C!!! I was in the fitness in the morning and am now off to the beach!
Surfin’ and chillin’. Here’s a really nice picture off a sunset I took yesterday.

Btw. I’ll send you the number:-)

Las Vegas

Not many words too loose. Just ONE BIG CRAZY CITY!

The rides at the end are craaaazy. I have never seen anything like this before. Imagine. We were riding at 1:00 in the morning. The one on top of the building is around 400m high. Imagine riding a free fall in 400m over the city of Las Vegas. But the fall is interupted by going up again! There is really only one word to say: CRAZY!

Crazy was also that we rode these at 1:00 am in the morning!

Crazy Halloween

Next weekend in one week is Halloween. Some people really go crazy over this one. There is a house just near our residence which is heavily decorated. Cats and scary electric objects which move and sometimeseven make sound. What a waste of electricity. They go crazy all over :-)

Check out this crazy Halloween House!

Surfing at pacific beach

Today the weather was really great!!! Hot and a completely blue sky. I was walking at the harbor on pacific bay where you can see some ships and yachts. The bay is near the city and just very close to the city. San Diego has about five big beaches. After the school a group of about twenty people went to the pacific beach which is just about twenty-five minutes from downtown where I live. Because I had to buy some things at the shopping mall – Horton Plaza – which is downtown, I joined the group a little bit later.

Yeah, and that was the point. I wanted to walk near the harbor because I’d thought the bus line to pacific beach will cross my way. Unfortunately, I was wrong. It didn’t. So I had to walk all the up downtown again to get my bus which was going directly onto the highway. Because I was a little late I didn’t surf yet but tomorrow I will be at the beach for sure.

I didn’t shoot any pics of the beach but here are two from the harbor.

The best thing: It’s weekend and the weather is going to be so good all the time. The first few days when I arrived it was about 22C and the evenings were very fresh. But now the weather is really sunny and hot! So enjoy your weekend!!!

Much love and greatings!!!

Golf Court

Here are some pictures from the golf court which I’ve been.
It was much fun driving around with my own golf cab:-). Also the weather was really great! Sunny by 26C. We nearly were there for 5hours. Unfortunately, I only tried to put. But two friends of mine very playing a very interesting tournament. It’s pretty funny that you can order drinks and food on the whole court and they’ll bring it to you with a buggy.

My room

Hey folks

Today I visited the school for the first time. It is a nice but funny place. Funny? Yes funny because when you’ re entering the main room you can see inside every class room through each glass door. The classes are very small. Not more than 8 students per class. And all the rooms are kind of small. The students sit around one big table. Behind the teacher there’s a flip chart board. Okay, that’s it for now. There will be a test at 13.15 to find out which classes each of the students exactly fit.

So now it’s already evening. We past the test and had a little city tour. Tomorrow morning they will put the classes together by levels.
I met some nice people and already got a real good buddy.

As I promised. Here’s a short video of my room. Actually, I promised you some pics but a movie is even nicer. Therefore I wanted to upload a movie but noticed that I would have to pay for it. I already shot the vid, but now gotta get up to do some pics again. Awwww…

I’m going out for dinner in a minute. So here you go. So welcome to my little but easy room.

Tomorrow I’ll show you some pics of my way to school.

Cheers

Cars, cars, cars

Drinking some starbucks coffee. Time to write. As it’s sunday many streets are closed for cars but… There have been a big car exhibition in the gaslamp quarter. Ferraris, Lamorghinis, Maseratis, Mercedes SLRs, etc. Actually these cars aren’t that expensive as I first thought. The red Ferrari is only about $175’000. In switzerland the price is twice that high.
